I have worked in the substance misuse, domestic abuse & social care field for nearly twenty years, beginning with my role as a counsellor at the NSPCC. I gathered a wealth of experience in therapeutic direct delivery work and in policy and practice development.
Having worked independently as a consultant and trainer, I designed and delivered tailor - made programmes for a wide range of services working with the hidden harms within multiple problem families, with a focus on early identification and effective partnership working at a local and national level.
I have experience of working in partnership at all levels of business with government and other charities and organisations aimed at improving partnership links and effective joint commissioning.
Most recently, before going independent, taking a lead for Alcohol Concern on service transformation for agencies involved in alcohol, family and domestic abuse work, I championed the development of nationally recognised innovative approaches. My training programmes for multi-disciplinary professionals has been a great success with county council troubled family teams, therapists and social care students.
I have extensive knowledge of local authority settings having held a strategic position at Hertfordshire County Council's Crime and Drugs Unit as the county lead for domestic abuse.
I continue to work with clients and professionals in a voluntary capacity, in GP surgery's as well as in my private practice. This keeps me in tune with the community and front-line workers and informs my work as a consultant and trainer in the therapeutic and social care field. I train counsellors, trainee counsellors, social workers, key workers in health, domestic abuse, alcohol and people working with families.
